Common Name:

Tells: Pale brown/yellow/olive cap stains blue, resolving toward brownish-black. Pale brown/orange/yellow flesh blues instantly & ages to have a faint chlorine smell.

Other Information: Maroon-red pores age to red-brown & stain blue. Stem has yellow base color w/red spots or powder, often arranged in a netting pattern. Like oak and beech.

Edibility: Unknown.

CHEMICAL TESTS:

NH4OH (Ammonia): Cap surface reacts in a very variable way, with a slate/blue/greenish flash that becomes orange/rust. Blue stained cap flesh turns back to yellow.
KOH: Cap surface turns deep red and/or brown. Cap flesh turns orange.
FeSO4 (Iron Salts): No data.
