Common Name:
Tells: Cinnamon-brown pores age paler & slowly stain reddish-gray. White cap flesh stains purple-gray to blackish, esp. by the stem, w/no red. Likes birch & aspen.
Other Information: Salt & pepper stem has flesh that may stain blue by the base. Rusty- to orange-red (sometimes liver colored) cap may crack or fissure w/age.
