Tells: White cap flesh slowly stains purple- or gray-brown. Whitish stem w/dense white scabers that darken w/age to gray-black. Viscid red or red-brown cap.
Other Information: Buff-olive pores bruise dark brown. Cap often a bit wrinkled or pitted. Grows under manzanita or madrone.
