Other Information: Yellow to grayish stem often has beige & grayish-orange streaks. Likes oak.

Edibility: Too bitter to eat but useful for unique approaches like cocktail bitters. It isn’t toxic; just absurdly bitter.

CHEMICAL TESTS:

  • NH4OH (Ammonia): Cap skin turns orange.
  • KOH: Cap skin turns orange-yellow.
  • FeSO4 (Iron Salts): Cap flesh turns greenish.
