Tells: Dull brick-reddish cap ages toward cinnamon. Yellow cap flesh blues instantly & may taste acidic. Maroon baby pores age to orange-red & bruise blue.

Other Information: Yellow stem gains ever more orange-brown spots going down. Likes hazelnut, oak & beech. Yellow mycelium. Hard to distinguish from the other red-pored blue-stainers.

  • NH4OH (Ammonia): No data.
  • KOH: No data.
  • FeSO4 (Iron Salts): Blue-stained cap flesh turns yellow and then slowly olive.
