Common Name:

Tells: Yellow pores bruise dingy reddish brown.Variable-colored, oft-tacky cap ages darker & slowly bruises reddish-brown. Likes alder.

Other Information: Cap color ranges from buff to straw, pale brown or reddish brown, & often ends at dark brown. Pale yellow cap flesh blues weakly. Dark reddish brown stem darkens toward base.

Science Notes: The only North American Gyrodon remaining in that Genus. The others listed in North American Boletes were moved to Boletinellus due to DNA testing.
