Common Name:
Tells: White-buff pores age to pale cinnamon-brown, & stain yellow- to dark-brown. Oft-pitted, buff-brown to gray-brown cap. White cap flesh rarely stains gray.
Other Information: Whitish stem w/light scabers that darken w/age to brown or blackish-brown, often leaving a white band by the pores. A west coast mushroom. Likes aspen. L. scabrum grows under birch instead of aspen.
Edibility: Edibility unknown, but the very similar L. scabrum is quite good.
