Other Information: Lives under coastal oak.

Science Notes: DNA testing moved this mushroom into the newly erected genus “Xerocomellus.”

Edibility: Unknown.

CHEMICAL TESTS:

  • NH4OH (Ammonia): Blue-stained cap flesh turns yellow.
  • KOH: Blue-stained cap flesh turns yellow.
  • FeSO4 (Iron Salts): Cap surface turns bluish-green. Blue-stained cap flesh turns yellow.
