Description

Common Name: “Short Stalked Bolete”
Tells: Stem is so short (<2″) that the viscid brown (dark to cinnamon, fading w/age) cap can seem to be on the ground.
Other Information: White flesh ages yellower, esp. by the stem. Yellow pores. Likes pine.
Edibility: Good.
CHEMICAL TESTS:
- NH4OH (Ammonia): Cap skin turns brownish black.
- KOH: Cap skin turns brownish black.
- FeSO4 (Iron Salts): Cap flesh turns olive.
