Description

Common Name: “White Suillus”
Tells: Viscid white cap & white pores both age yellower. Grows w/White Pine. Long, oft-curved stem w/pink-red dots & smears. Cap flesh may slowly stain pinkish.
Other Information: Pores of young specimens often have pinkish droplets. The stem can hollow out in age, w/markings that start pink & age to red-brown.
Edibility: Good.
CHEMICAL TESTS:
- NH4OH (Ammonia): Cap skin turns pink before darkening to red and then blackish.
- KOH: Cap skin turns pink before darkening to red and then blackish.
- FeSO4 (Iron Salts): Cap flesh turns gray to olive-brown.
