Tells: Red/pink cap browns w/yellow edge, often yellow mottling. Yellow pores and thick, pale yellow flesh may bruise blue, often weakly. Stem powder-yellow above & red by base w/fine netting.

Other Information:

Edibility: Good.

Science Notes: Authoritative sources have said this is a an odd form of L. pallidorosea with fine red netting and more reliable bluing. Expect the two to be merged in the near future, with the name L. rubissima as the survivor.

CHEMICAL TESTS:

  • NH4OH (Ammonia): No data.
  • KOH: Cap skin slowly yellows.
  • FeSO4 (Iron Salts): Flesh turns grayish.
